The United States Supreme Court consists of the Chief Justice of the United States and eight associate justices. At its discretion, and within certain guidelines established by Congress, the Supreme Court each year hears a limited number of the cases it is asked to decide. The Federal Judicial Center is the research and education agency of the federal judicial system. It was established by Congress in 1967 (28 U.S.C. §§ 620-629), on the recommendation of the Judicial Conference of the United States.
The Eighth Judicial District Court, and each of its 33 designated departments, is a part of the Judicial Branch of our State government as set forth by the Nevada State Constitution. This court’s purpose, procedures and jurisdictions are set by statutory mandates and Nevada and local rules of court. This jurisdiction encompasses all municipalities and outlying communities of Clark County.
